Lichtenstein-Callnberg is a small Saxon textile town, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1922, its council issued emergency currency — Notgeld — as the Reichsbank struggled to keep denominations pace with accelerating inflation. The Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce in nearby Glauchau handled printing for several regional authorities during this period, operating as a commercial town printer pressed into monetary service rather than a specialist security printer.
By late 1922, 5,000 Mark was already a modest denomination. Within months it would be functionally worthless.
