Obverse description At left centre, an intaglio portrait vignette of President Saparmyrat Nyýazow (known as Türkmenbaşy, 1940–2006); at right, a vignette of the Old Presidential Palace in Ashgabat set against a multicolour guilloche underprint. The face value and issuing authority are inscribed in Turkmen script.

Reverse description The State Emblem of Turkmenistan occupies the central vignette, incorporating the golden Akhal-Teke stallion Yanardag (foaled 1991), which was the personal horse of President Saparmyrat Nyýazow, rendered within the circular emblem design. Surrounding decorative guilloche work and Turkmen script inscriptions fill the remainder of the note.
