| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse carries three principal intaglio vignettes: at left, Donatello's equestrian statue of Gattamelata on its pedestal; at center, the Gothic facade and loggia of the Palazzo Ducale in Venice rendered in fine engraved detail; and at right, a sculptural fountain group. A geometric guilloche underprint in muted rose and green tones unifies the composition, with the denomination numeral '5000' incorporated at lower center. |

| Opmerkingen |
The Antonello da Messina 5000 Lire series spans four distinct signature combinations across its run, making it a minor but genuine collecting target for students of postwar Italian monetary administration. The 1979 issue carries Baffi's signature — Paolo Baffi, whose governorship ended that same year under deeply uncomfortable circumstances when he and a deputy were placed under criminal investigation for alleged currency offences, charges widely regarded as politically motivated and eventually dropped. Ciampi replaced him and his name appears on all subsequent dates.
Cionini's intaglio work on the obverse is among the finer engraving examples produced by the Officina in this period.
