The P#67N designation marks this as a note issued under the pro-German wartime government just before the September 1944 coup that brought the Fatherland Front to power. Bulgaria's rapid political reversal — switching from Axis alignment to a Soviet-backed administration within days — meant that large-denomination notes like this one were caught mid-circulation during one of the more abrupt regime changes of the European war.
The Ministry of Finance, rather than the Bulgarian National Bank, served as issuer — a wartime arrangement that reflected both the pressures on the banking system and the government's need for direct control over currency emission during the final years of occupation-era finance.
