正面描述	At the base of the coin, a semicircular fortress tower with a crenellated parapet and a fortification rendered as parallel horizontal bars occupies the lower field. At center, the great princely signet of Stefan cel Mare displays the Moldavian Coat of Arms. Above, Romania's Coat of Arms is prominently featured, flanked by the inscription ROMANIA and the date 2004. The face value 5000 LEI appears in the upper field, set between two decorative floral ornaments.

背面描述	A dignified portrait of Prince Stefan cel Mare dominates the central field, depicted in profile with period-appropriate attire. To his right, a depiction of the Putna Monastery church — the site of the Prince's burial — is rendered in fine detail. Flanking the portrait, the years 1504 and 2004 mark the 500th anniversary of his death. The circular legend 500 ANI DE LA MOARTEA LUI STEFAN CEL MARE is engraved along the periphery of the coin.
