背面描述 A full-figure African Oryx (Oryx gazella) is depicted standing facing left in the central field, rendered in fine detail with its distinctive long straight horns extending upward. Behind the animal, a large circular map outline of the African continent occupies the background field. The series legend AFRICAN WILDLIFE arcs along the upper periphery, the species name African Oryx appears in the right field, and the denomination 5000 KWACHA is inscribed along the lower border.

附加信息

Zambia's use of wildlife coinage as a bullion vehicle had largely run its course by the mid-2010s, but this issue continued a decades-long tradition of Zambian silver rounds marketed primarily to European collectors rather than circulated domestically. The country's monetary authority had little infrastructure for bullion distribution at home; these pieces moved almost entirely through German and Swiss wholesale channels.

The Arabian Oryx was hunted to extinction in the wild by 1972 before captive breeding programs — notably in the United States and the Arabian Peninsula — allowed reintroduction. The African Oryx faces no such crisis, but its selection here reflects the broader export-market appeal of charismatic African megafauna rather than any conservation urgency specific to Zambia.
