Issued to mark the turn of the millennium, this trimetallic piece was one of the most technically ambitious coins the Slovak mint had produced to that point — combining three noble metals in concentric rings, each struck and fitted separately before assembly. The construction process alone made rejection rates unusually high, limiting effective output well below the nominal mintage figure.
Slovakia was still less than a decade into its existence as an independent state when this was struck, having separated from Czechoslovakia on January 1, 1993.
