The Litoměřice issue is part of the Czech National Bank's ongoing series documenting historic towns, a program that has quietly become one of the more rigorous documentary coinages in Central Europe — each release tied to municipal archival research rather than artistic committee preference. Litoměřice, one of Bohemia's oldest royal towns, received its charter privileges under John of Luxembourg in the 14th century and served for centuries as a significant ecclesiastical center in the region.
