| Obverse description | The obverse features a highly detailed Gothic architectural motif depicting a decorative church window or altar screen with pointed arched tracery, rendered in high relief. Within the central arch, a figural scene is depicted, consistent with the Castles of Czech Republic commemorative series. The denomination '5000 Kč' appears in the lower field, flanked by the inscription 'HRADY ČM' to the left and 'ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA' to the right, separated by ornamental bullet points. The design reflects a fine engraving style with intricate architectural and sculptural detail characteristic of the Czech Mint's commemorative gold series. |

| Additional information |
Bezděz Castle, perched on an extinct volcanic plug in northern Bohemia, was built by Přemysl Otakar II in the 1270s and never fully completed before his death at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278. It subsequently held one notable involuntary resident: the young Wenceslaus II, imprisoned there by his regent Otto of Brandenburg following his father's defeat. The Czech National Bank's gold commemorative series has used castle subjects since the 1990s, with Bezděz issued as part of a long-running program pairing architectural heritage with the 5000 Kč denomination in four-nines fine gold.
