正面描述 Bare-headed effigy of King Savang Vatthana in right-facing profile, wearing a decorated military collar. Below the portrait, a central device depicts a three-headed elephant bearing a parasol, flanked symmetrically by two ceremonial lamp standards, all raised on a horizontal platform. The legend ROYAUME DU LAOS arcs along the right field in Latin script, while a Lao-script inscription curves along the left field. The coin is struck in proof style with deeply mirrored fields contrasting with frosted devices.

背面描述 Central view of the Haw Phra Kaew temple (Wat Phra Keo Museum) in Vientiane, depicted in detailed architectural relief showing its characteristic multi-tiered roof, ornate gables, and surrounding gallery with pillars. The date 1975 appears to the right of the temple in the field. Above, the bilingual legend arcs around the upper periphery in both Lao script and Latin letters reading BANQUE NATIONALE DU LAOS. Below the temple, the denomination is expressed on two lines: the Lao numeral and script reading ໕.໐໐໐ ກີບ above the Latin numeral 5.000 KIP, with a mint mark between them.

附加信息

This issue occupies an uncomfortable place in Lao numismatic history. Struck in 1975, it was authorized under the Royal Lao Government just months before the Pathet Lao takeover in December of that year abolished the monarchy entirely — ending over six centuries of the Lane Xang succession and forcing King Savang Vatthana into internal exile, where he died under house arrest, likely in a re-education camp in Vieng Xai. The Banque Nationale du Laos that issued it ceased to exist shortly after.

Coins from this final royal series were largely unsold and unissued in Laos itself, surviving primarily through export channels to the collector market.
