Obverse description Right-facing uniformed bust of King Savang Vatthana occupying the upper half of the field, depicted with close-cropped hair and wearing a military tunic with an ornate embroidered collar. Below the bust appears the traditional Laotian three-headed elephant (Erawan) standing on a pedestal flanked by ceremonial parasols, a classic royal emblem of the Kingdom of Laos. The legend ROYAUME DU LAOS arcs along the right periphery in Latin script, while the equivalent inscription in Lao script runs along the left periphery.
