5000 Kip New coat of arms

Pick 41A is the updated version of the existing 5000 Kip design, distinguished from its predecessor by a revised national coat of arms reflecting changes adopted after the 2020 revision to Lao state symbols. The modification is subtle enough that the two types are frequently conflated in collections, making accurate attribution dependent on close inspection of the emblem rather than any other design element.

Cotton substrate was already standard across the Lao PDR series by this point. The watermark remains the principal security feature — relatively modest for a high-denomination note by contemporary regional standards.
