| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Giovanni Boccaccio facing three-quarters right, wearing a hood and a wreath of laurel leaves, rendered in high relief with fine detail. The name GIOVANNI BOCCACCIO and his life dates 1313-1375 appear as a legend at the base of the portrait in an elegant serif typeface. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN and the date 2023 are inscribed along the left arc of the coin, while 5000 FRANCS CFA and the fineness designation 5 Oz Ag 999 appear along the right arc. The antique finish lends the portrait a sculptural, Renaissance-inspired aesthetic. |
