Chad's monetary authority has periodically licensed European minting houses to produce high-relief collector pieces under the CFA franc designation — a currency it shares across the six-nation CEMAC zone but has no independent monetary control over. These issues are produced entirely for the numismatic export market; none circulate within Chad or anywhere in the CFA zone.
