The Bank of Central African States — known by its French acronym BEAC — serves six member nations across central Africa, and its commemorative program has expanded aggressively since the mid-2010s, largely through partnerships with European minting intermediaries targeting the collector market rather than any of the six member economies. These coins do not circulate in Cameroon, Chad, or anywhere else in the BEAC zone.
The 5000 CFA franc face value is nominal — roughly nine U.S. dollars at current exchange rates, against a silver melt value several times that figure.
