Additional information

Côte d'Ivoire issues its collector coinage under the West African Economic and Monetary Union framework, which means the CFA franc is technically managed by the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest — not Abidjan. These large-format rhodium-plated pieces are produced almost exclusively for the international numismatic market, bearing legal tender status that is nominal at best.

Rhodium plating on collector silver became more commercially viable after rhodium prices partially retreated from their extraordinary 2021 peak of roughly $29,000 per troy ounce.
