Tromelin Island has a permanent population of zero — a rotating team of French meteorologists, nothing more. It has no economy, no currency, and no issuing authority with any mandate to produce legal tender. Notes marketed under its name are private fantasy issues, produced for the collector novelty trade, with no governmental backing and no circulation story because there is no population to circulate them.
