Roger Pfund is a Geneva-based artist and designer whose banknote work spans dozens of issuing authorities — his involvement here is unusual in that the Comoros series represents one of the few Franc Zone notes where an independent Swiss designer rather than an in-house Banque de France engraver is credited. The Banque de France printed this under its long-standing technical assistance arrangements with Franc Zone territories, a relationship that has persisted well beyond formal monetary independence.
The 5000-franc denomination is the highest in the Comorian series. The signature combination variants reflect successive changes in central bank administration across a print run that spans nearly two decades.
