The bilingual denomination inscription appears in both Spanish and French, alongside the dual-language republic name in the upper legend. Commenti	The Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale — the BEAC — replaced the earlier BCEAO-linked structure when the Central African monetary union reformed in 1972, and this 5000 Franc denomination was the highest value note in general circulation for several member states through much of the 1980s. Printing was handled by the Banque de France, as with essentially the entire CFA franc zone at this period, a printing arrangement rooted in the post-independence monetary agreements that kept Francophone African currencies technically convertible through the French Treasury. The mid-1980s issues of this series coincided with severe fiscal stress across BEAC member states, particularly Cameroon and the Central African Republic, as commodity revenues collapsed. Notes from this window saw heavy use.
