Obverse description The obverse features a stylized design of overlapping wave motifs arranged in a curved, fan-like pattern occupying the left and right fields, evoking the movement of water. The denomination '5000 FORINT' is inscribed prominently in the center field, with the mint mark 'BP.' and the year '2010' flanking it in the lower central area. The legend 'MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG' (Republic of Hungary) arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script. The overall composition is clean and modern, consistent with contemporary Hungarian commemorative coinage design.

Additional information

Hungary hosted the 2010 European Aquatics Championships in Budapest that August — the city's third time hosting the event, and the first since 1958. The Danube Arena had not yet been built; competition ran through the Hajós Alfréd National Sports Swimming Pool, named after the Hungarian swimmer who won two gold medals at the 1896 Athens Olympics.
