Obverse description Centered on the obverse is the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia, depicting a crowned eagle with spread wings and a lion flanking a central shield, rendered in sharp relief. The Armenian legend ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ (Republic of Armenia) arcs along the upper periphery in Armenian script. The date 2013 appears to the lower left of the arms, while the gold fineness designation Au 999.9 is inscribed to the lower right. The denomination 5000 DRAM / ԴՐԱՄ is boldly displayed in the lower field in large numerals accompanied by bilingual lettering. The legend REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA curves along the lower rim in Latin script.

Reverse description The reverse features a large, stylized rendering of the Armenian letter Օ (O) prominently centered in the field, occupying most of the coin's surface. The right half of the letter is decorated with intricate traditional Armenian ornamental filigree motifs, contrasting with the plain polished left half to create an elegant two-tone artistic effect. The complete Armenian alphabet — all thirty-eight letters — is inscribed in a continuous legend encircling the central motif along the periphery, with a small decorative flower or star ornament serving as a divider. The design celebrates the Armenian script as part of the Central Bank's ongoing Armenian Alphabet commemorative coin series.
