| Reverse description | The Armenian letter Փ (Pʿ) is prominently rendered in large relief at the centre of the field, its vertical stem decorated with an intricate interlaced knotwork panel in the traditional Armenian ornamental style. The complete Armenian alphabet encircles the central motif in a continuous border legend running around the periphery of the coin, separated by a small floral ornament. The design is stark and elegant, with the featured letter commanding the full visual focus of the reverse. |

Part of the Central Bank of Armenia's 38-coin series dedicating one gold piece to each letter of the Armenian alphabet, itself one of the more ambitious alphabet-themed numismatic programs issued by any central bank. The alphabet was created by the scholar and monk Mesrop Mashtots around 405 AD, commissioned to provide Armenia with a writing system capable of rendering Christian scripture — the political and religious stakes of that decision shaped Armenian identity for the next sixteen centuries.
Փ (Piwr) is the 34th letter of the classical ordering.
