| 背面描述 | A bold right-facing bust portrait of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, the renowned Serbian linguist and language reformer, dominates the central field, depicted wearing a traditional Serbian cap (šajkača) in a sculptural relief style. The circular legend in Cyrillic script reads 'ДВЕСТА ГОДИНА ОД РОЂЕЊА ВУКА КАРАЏИЋА', arcing around the upper and left periphery of the coin. The date '1987', marking the bicentennial of his birth, is inscribed in the lower field. A continuous border of raised beads encircles the entire design. |

Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, the Serbian philologist who standardized the modern Serbian language and reformed its Cyrillic alphabet in the early nineteenth century, was a persistently controversial figure during his lifetime — the Austrian authorities repeatedly banned his orthographic reforms, and the Serbian Orthodox Church opposed him for decades. His rehabilitation into official Yugoslav iconography by 1987 was entirely uncontroversial, which says something about how thoroughly history had vindicated him.
