Mohammad Ali Shah's reign ended violently in July 1909 when Constitutionalist forces captured Tehran and forced his abdication — making this one of the final coin types struck under his authority. The timing places production almost certainly within months of that deposition, as the Tabriz mint and others were operating under increasingly desperate political conditions during the prolonged struggle between the shah and the constitutionalist movement.
Mohammad Ali had actually invited Russian Cossack intervention and ordered the bombardment of the Majles building in 1908, buying himself roughly a year before the constitutional forces prevailed.
