| Additional information |
Poland's 1976 commemorative program honored Kazimierz Pułaski ahead of the bicentennial of American independence — Pułaski having died in 1779 at the Siege of Savannah while commanding cavalry for the Continental Army. Trial strikes in nickel were produced by Mennica Polska as part of the approval process before the issued cupro-nickel circulation pieces were confirmed, making them documentation artifacts of the production sequence rather than coins intended for any monetary function.
