Obverse description The central field bears a multi-line Latin commemorative inscription within a recessed panel, reading PRIMUS IN POLONIA REGIO DIADEMATE INSIGNITUS, TERMINOS IMPERII AD ALBIM BORYSTHENEM ET OSSAM VICTOR DESIGNAVIT. OBIIT A. DOMIN: 1025. AETAT: 58. REG: 35., commemorating Bolesław I the Brave as the first king of Poland crowned with the royal diadem, who extended the realm's borders to the Elbe, Dnieper, and Ossa rivers, dying in 1025 after 35 years of reign at the age of 58. The circular border legend reads RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA · 500 ZŁ, with the denomination flanking the right arc. At the base of the inscription panel, the Polish eagle is depicted in relief, flanked by the date 2013 and the mint mark MW.
