Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed right-facing draped bust of Bolesław I the Brave (Chrobry), first King of Poland, rendered in high relief in a medallic style. The king wears an ornate jewelled crown and is draped in a fur-trimmed royal mantle fastened with a decorative fibula at the chest. His beard and facial features are rendered with fine sculptural detail evocative of historical royal portraiture. The curved legend BOLESLAUS DICTUS CHROBRY SIVE STRENUS. arcs around the upper border, with the engraver's initials I.P.H.F. inscribed in small characters at the lower left of the field.
