The November Uprising of 1830–31 forced the insurgent Polish government into an immediate financing problem. The Kasa Generalna, functioning under revolutionary authority rather than the Russian-controlled administration that normally oversaw Kingdom of Poland finances, issued this series to fund military operations against the occupying power. It was a short-lived monetary experiment: Russian forces suppressed the uprising by September 1831, and notes of this type were repudiated almost immediately afterward.
Three signatories was unusual for the series — Dembowski, Mochi, and Oktawski each representing different layers of treasury oversight under the provisional government. Notes that survived the collapse were rarely preserved deliberately; most that exist today came through family hoarding or document collections rather than formal redemption channels.
