| Obverse description | The obverse is struck on a square planchet set at 45 degrees in diamond orientation, with ornamental foliate devices at each corner. Within a central circular field, a dynamic high-relief scene depicts Polish soldiers charging during the Battle of Warsaw (1920), with a figure bearing a flag amid the mêlée. To the left of the scene appears the Polish eagle arms, and above it, an italic inscription in Polish reads: '...I urodziłem się w 1920, w maju, w tym czasie, kiedy bolszewicy szli na Warszawę' (a quotation attributed to Pope John Paul II). The legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper border, with BITWA WARSZAWSKA 1920 along the lower arc, the denomination 500 zł to the left, and the date 2020 at the base. |
