| 背面描述 | The central motif depicts a traditional Chinese open pavilion with a multi-tiered tiled roof, supported by slender columns and approached by a stepped platform, set within a landscape of ancient, gnarled cypress trees flanking the structure on either side. The scene represents the memorial precinct at the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi Ling) in Shaanxi Province. In the lower field, the denomination 500元 is prominently inscribed, beneath which appears the Chinese legend 黄帝陵一拥有一片故土 and the metallic specification Au 5oz.999, all on a polished mirror exergue. The finely detailed frosted relief design is executed in the high-quality proof standard typical of Chinese State Mint commemorative gold issues. |

Part of China's ongoing commemorative gold program, this 1993 issue marks the legendary mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor — Huangdi — at Qiaoshan in Shaanxi Province, a site venerated for millennia as the symbolic burial place of the progenitor of Chinese civilization. The tomb is a state-protected site and an active pilgrimage destination; its political significance to the PRC government made it a recurring subject for prestige bullion issues aimed squarely at diaspora collectors and overseas markets throughout the 1990s.
At five troy ounces, this is one of the heavier denominations in the series. Mintages for these large-format commemoratives were tightly controlled and have never been authoritatively published by the People's Bank of China.
