Reverse description The central motif depicts a traditional Chinese open pavilion with a multi-tiered tiled roof, supported by slender columns and approached by a stepped platform, set within a landscape of ancient, gnarled cypress trees flanking the structure on either side. The scene represents the memorial precinct at the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi Ling) in Shaanxi Province. In the lower field, the denomination 500元 is prominently inscribed, beneath which appears the Chinese legend 黄帝陵一拥有一片故土 and the metallic specification Au 5oz.999, all on a polished mirror exergue. The finely detailed frosted relief design is executed in the high-quality proof standard typical of Chinese State Mint commemorative gold issues.
