Reverse description The central device displays the official Tsukuba Expo '85 emblem, a stylized floral motif, prominently positioned in the upper portion of the field above the numeral denomination. Flanking the central emblem are decorative sakura (cherry blossom) flowers in relief. The Latin legend TSUKUBA EXPO'85 is inscribed across the upper field, with the Arabic numeral denomination 500 flanked by decorative flower symbols in the center. The era date 昭和六十年 (Year 60 of Shōwa) appears in kanji along the lower field, and the design is bordered by a raised bead rim.
