Obverse description The obverse features a scenic composition representing Yamanashi Prefecture, dominated by a large bunch of grapes with detailed vine leaves occupying the right and upper fields, symbolising the region's renowned viticulture. To the lower left, a finely rendered depiction of Mount Fuji rises against a subtly textured field, evoking Yamanashi's celebrated landscape. The prefecture name appears in both Latin script (YAMANASHI) and Japanese characters (山梨県) to the centre-left of the design. The legend 日本国 (State of Japan) arcs across the upper rim, while the denomination 五百円 (500 yen) is inscribed along the lower rim. The entire design is framed by a beaded inner border.
