Beschrijving voorzijde The copper-nickel centre depicts two Awa Odori dancers in dynamic traditional costume, rendered in high relief against a stippled field; one dancer raises both arms expressively while the other holds a drum. The denomination 五百円 (500 yen) is inscribed in the outer nickel brass ring at the base, flanked by 五百 to the left and 円 to the right, with the country name 日本国 distributed around the upper portion of the ring. The prefecture name appears in both Latin script (TOKUSHIMA) and kanji (徳島県) at the lower centre of the inner disc. The ring is bordered on both edges by a continuous beaded inner rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde The copper-nickel centre features a stylised representation of an ancient cast Mon coin, displaying the four kanji characters 地方自治 (local autonomy) arranged around a central square hole, incorporating latent image security technology. The outer nickel brass ring carries the legend JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM around the upper arc, with the denomination 500 YEN and the Japanese era date 平成27年 (Heisei year 27) distributed around the lower arc. Both the inner disc and outer ring are bordered by a beaded rim, consistent with the standard design of the 47 Prefectures Coin Programme series.
