The nickel brass outer ring carries the legend JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM along the upper arc, and the denomination 500 YEN together with the Japanese era date 平成 21 年 (Year 21 of Heisei, i.e. 2009) along the lower arc. The programme sequence number (47/60) is incorporated into the design, identifying this coin as the 47th issue in the series. A beaded border runs along the inner edge of the outer ring. |
