| Reverse description | The central field displays a large sixteen-petalled Imperial chrysanthemum crest (kikumon) in bold relief, flanked symmetrically by sprays of bamboo and kiri (paulownia) blossoms rising from an ornamental pedestal, all rendered in fine detail. The commemorative legend '御即位記念' (Commemorating the enthronement of the emperor) is distributed in Japanese characters around the upper periphery of the field. The lower portion carries the denomination '500円' in Arabic numerals and Japanese script, separated by a raised dot, followed by '平成2年' denoting the second year of the Heisei era, arranged along the lower border. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
