| 表面の説明 | The large numeral '500' is prominently displayed within a concentric circular device at the center of the field, evoking the design of a modern banknote. The Slovenian denomination legend 'PETSTO TOLARJEV' curves along the upper rim, while the issuer name 'REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA' arcs along the lower rim. The date '1991' appears to the right of the central device. The mirror-like proof field provides a strong contrast against the frosted relief lettering and numerals. |

Slovenia's December 1990 plebiscite returned a 94.8% vote in favor of independence, and the republic formally declared separation from Yugoslavia on June 25, 1991 — the same day as Croatia, a coordination that forced Belgrade into a two-front response. The Ten-Day War that followed ended with the Brioni Agreement and Yugoslav federal forces withdrawing from Slovenian territory by October.
This coin was issued the same year the state itself came into legal existence, making it among the earliest objects to carry Slovenian sovereignty in physical form.
