Slovenia's post-independence commemorative program moved quickly to document national landmarks, and the Aljaž Tower on the summit of Triglav — erected in 1895 by Jakob Aljaž for a symbolic purchase price of one florin — was an obvious candidate. The centenary of its construction in 1995 gave the Bank of Slovenia its occasion. Aljaž, a priest and alpinist, bought the summit plot specifically to prevent Austrian authorities from commercializing it.
Čop references for Slovenian issues of this period can vary between catalog editions; KM#27 is the stable anchor for collectors working across sources.
