Kazakhstan's lunar series draws on the Chinese calendar cycle that has been observed across Central Asia since the Mongol period, when the twelve-animal system became deeply embedded in steppe timekeeping and administrative record. The 2019 wild boar issue is one of the more straightforward entries in the National Bank's collector program — competently struck at the Kazakh Mint in Ust-Kamenogorsk, which has produced the bulk of the country's commemorative silver since the mid-1990s.
