| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field features a portrait of the medieval philosopher and polymath Al-Farabi, modelled after the effigy depicted on the 1993-issue 1 Tenge banknote. Technical inscriptions indicating the metal, fineness, and weight of the coin are positioned along the upper portion of the field. The year of issue appears to the left, while the legend ӘЛ-ФАРАБИ is inscribed at the base of the design in Cyrillic script. |

Al-Farabi — the 10th-century philosopher, mathematician, and music theorist born in the Farab region of what is now southern Kazakhstan — has become a central figure in Kazakh national identity-building since independence. This coin is part of a long-running National Bank series honoring figures claimed within Kazakhstan's cultural heritage, a program that accelerated notably after 2014 as the government invested heavily in redefining pre-Soviet intellectual lineage. Al-Farabi spent most of his productive life in Baghdad and Aleppo, a biographical inconvenience the series quietly sidesteps.
