The adyrna is a multi-stringed Kazakh instrument with roots stretching back centuries in steppe musical culture, and Kazakhstan's independence-era coin program consistently used silver issues to codify national cultural identity after the Soviet collapse. This piece was struck at the Kazakhstan Mint in Ust-Kamenogorsk, which had only been producing collector coinage in meaningful volumes for roughly a decade by 2005.
