The "Qırqınan" (fortieth day) ritual is one of the most deeply observed traditions in Kazakh culture — on the fortieth day after birth, the infant is bathed in water infused with salt and silver coins, formally named, and presented to the community. The National Bank issued this coin as part of a broader series documenting intangible Kazakh cultural heritage, several entries of which were produced at the Kazakhmint facility in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
