Bangladesh shifted its 500 Taka series from imported security printing — historically handled by foreign firms including De La Rue — to domestic production through the Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Ltd. following that facility's establishment in the late 1980s. Printing this denomination domestically was not a foregone conclusion; the 500 Taka note, as the highest-value note in regular circulation for much of Bangladesh's independent history, had long been considered too sensitive to entrust to an in-country press.

The 2025 date makes this among the most recent issues in the series. TBB#371 supersedes earlier 500 Taka types and reflects updated security specifications.
