The legend 'REFORMA DEL ESTADO' arcs along the upper outer ring between the two numerals, while 'ISIDRO AYORA' is inscribed above the portrait and 'QUINIENTOS SUCRES' curves along the lower portion of the outer ring, giving the denomination in full words.
