| 背面描述 | The aluminium bronze centre features a forward-facing portrait bust of Isidro Ayora, President of Ecuador and founder of the Banco Central del Ecuador, with his name inscribed in small lettering beneath the effigy within the centre field. The copper-nickel outer ring carries the legend 'BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR' arcing around the upper half, while the commemorative date span '1927-1997' appears along the lower portion, flanked by small dot separators. The mint mark 'S' is visible in the lower right area of the centre field. The overall composition commemorates the 70th anniversary of the institution's founding. |

Ecuador's Central Bank was founded in 1927 under pressure from the Kemmerer Mission, an American financial advisory team led by Princeton economist Edwin Kemmerer that restructured monetary systems across five Latin American nations in the 1920s. The 1997 commemorative marks seventy years from that founding — though the timing carries a certain irony, as the sucre had less than three years left before Ecuador's catastrophic banking crisis of 1999 forced dollarization and permanent retirement of the currency in 2000.
