Printed in uniform burnt-orange on cream-toned paper, the reverse is dominated by a large circular vignette of the Ecuadorian national coat of arms engraved in fine detail, with the Andean condor surmounting the shield, the whole set within an intricate guilloche medallion. The numeral 500 occupies each of the four corners against a background of tightly interlaced lathe-work, with BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR in a panel across the top and QUINIENTOS SUCRES repeated at the foot. The printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY appears in small letters along the lower margin. |
