| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Uzbekistan occupies the central field, depicting a Humo bird with outstretched wings above a rising sun, flanked by stalks of wheat on the left and cotton branches on the right, all enclosed by a decorative wreath surmounted by an eight-pointed star. A ribbon bearing the inscription 'O'ZBEKISTON' appears at the base of the arms. The circular legend 'OʻZBEKISTON MARKAZIY BANKI' runs along the upper periphery, separated from the field by a ring of raised beads, with the date '2018' flanked by two pellets at the bottom. |

| 背面描述 | A neoclassical façade of the Palace of Forums (Anjumanlar Saroyi) in Tashkent is depicted in the upper portion of the field, rendered in fine relief with prominent columns, a broad entablature, and a central dome surmounted by a small finial figure. The building design occupies approximately the upper half of the coin. Below, in a recessed curved panel, the denomination '500' appears in large numerals above the currency unit 'SOʻM' in smaller lettering. The entire design is enclosed within an ornate border of traditional Uzbek geometric and floral interlace motifs. |

The som was reintroduced as Uzbekistan's national currency in 1994, replacing the Soviet ruble at a rate designed to insulate the new state's economy from Russian monetary instability. For years afterward, Uzbekistan maintained strict currency controls and an artificial exchange rate that created a thriving black market — the official rate and the street rate for the som diverged so dramatically that the gap became a defining feature of daily commerce. Those controls weren't fully dismantled until September 2017, just months before this coin's issue year.
