背面描述 A front-facing draped bust of Pope Paul VI occupies the upper portion of the field, his left hand raised in a gesture of blessing and his papal mitre prominently displayed. Below the papal effigy, a globe depicts the cities visited by the Pontiff during his apostolic journeys, each location identified by name in the surrounding legend. The inscriptions arranged around the periphery record both the issuing authority and the successive destinations of the papal pilgrimages. The composition reflects a commemorative intent, celebrating the historic travels of Pope Paul VI.

附加信息

Issued to commemorate Pope Paul VI's visit to Uganda in July 1969 — the first papal visit to Africa in history — this piece was struck in a very limited quantity for a country that had only gained independence from Britain in 1962. Paul VI flew to Kampala to attend the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs, twenty-two Catholic converts executed on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II between 1885 and 1887. The political timing was deliberate: Idi Amin's coup was still eighteen months away, and Milton Obote's government welcomed the international visibility.
