Reverse description The Somali national coat of arms occupies the center of the field, consisting of a shield bearing horizontal lines charged with a five-pointed star, surmounted by a mural crown with five turrets. Two leopards serve as supporters, one on each side, rampant and addorsed to the shield. Below the shield, two crossed palm fronds and a spear are tied with a ribbon. An Arabic legend arcs across the upper field, and the denomination legend is inscribed in two languages along the lower arc of the coin: 'SCELLINI 500 SHILLINGS'. The date 1965 appears to the lower right of the field.
