背面描述	The reverse carries a detailed vignette of the Mosque of Islamic Solidarity in Mogadishu, rendered in multicolour intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint. The denomination '500' appears at left and right in both Western and Eastern Arabic numerals. The bilingual inscription of the issuing authority runs along the upper border in Arabic and English.

备注	BA International — the renamed successor to British American Bank Note Company — printed this series during a period when Somalia's central banking infrastructure was effectively collapsing. The civil war that ousted Siad Barre in January 1991 left the Central Bank nonfunctional, yet notes from this series continued to circulate for years afterward, their value destroyed not by official demonetization but by the sheer volume of counterfeit and faction-issued currency flooding the south. The 1989–1996 date range on this issue is somewhat notional. Printing likely occurred before the state's dissolution, with remaining stocks simply remaining in circulation by default rather than by any institutional decision.
